ISO/DIS 45001.2:2017 (commonly referred to as ISO/DIS2 45001), the first global Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management system standard has been published. Copies may be bought from the BSI Shop or your national standards body.
ISO 45001 is intended to replace the widely implemented BS OHSAS 18001. It is anticipated that organizations currently certified to BS OHSAS 18001 will need to migrate to ISO 45001 within three years of the new standard’s publication, as BS OHSAS 18001 is likely to be withdrawn.
We envisage the next stages of the development of ISO 45001 to be:
- There will now be a four month period to allow for translations and a ballot to be held
- From 19 May the draft standard will be available for review at no cost (clause by clause) on BSI’s online draft review system
- The results of the ballot will determine the next stage. Publication could now be as early as November 2017 (if no FDIS is required), and as late as Q2 2018 if an FDIS is required.
BSI will continue to keep clients updated with the development of this standard, with informative content and training courses available to support the migration.
